Getting the Most Out of Your Facial Serum

beautiful skin

Serums are taking the beauty world by storm due to their ability to really sink into the skin- penetrating deep down and giving skin a dewy and glowing appearance. Serums are packed with vital nutrients for your skin, so the deeper the product goes, the more your body is absorbing the nutrients. Moisturizers can’t accomplish this in the same way a serum can. You can aid your beauty serum by following a few simple steps.

Use a Mist

After cleansing and before serum application, you should spritz your face with a gentle mist. Damp skin is more permeable and therefore more accepting of the nutrients that your serum contains. You can buy mists that contain rose water and other skin nourishing ingredients, but if you don’t want to go all out you can always just apply your serum right after you get out of the shower.

Don’t Waste the Product

Because serums are extremely concentrated, you don’t need much of it to pack a punch; a little goes a long way. There’s no need to use more than 3 drops for your entire face. Even though serums a little pricier than most moisturizers, you’ll find that they’re worth it because one bottle lasts so long.

Finish With A Moisturizer

Serums absorb quickly, but you should still wait at least 5 minutes before applying a moisturizer or night cream. Moisturizing is the finishing touch that will seal everything in and add that extra layer of moisture that will really give you a soft glow in the morning.

Sleep on a Satin Pillowcase

You’ve finally finished your nightly beauty routine and are ready for bed. You should allow everything to settle into your skin for about 10 minutes before hitting the sheets. The secret weapon that really drives everything home is the satin pillowcase. Satin pillowcases eliminate pillow creases in your skin, reduce wrinkles and acne, and best of all, they won’t absorb all of the beauty products that you just spent time putting on your face! Traditional cotton pillowcases, on the other hand, are extremely absorbent- sleeping on one is basically like throwing your beauty products out of the window.
